Body guards provide protection for a wide range of people from celebrities to politicians and they are required to carry out certain duties and to follow a certain code of ethics, especially regarding client confidentiality. There
are many different types of protection the guards can cover whether it is for a large company that would require you to work for different clients all over the world or whether you would be assigned to a specific person for constant protection. The assigning of a body guard to a specific person is usually done in the case of royalty or celebrities that would require a strong bond of trust with the person looking out for them. - Skills and interests - People that are contemplating becoming a body guard or hiring one should take into consideration whether or not they have required skill set and interests to carry the job out to the required standards. These skills and interests include;
- They should be physically fit, this includes having good eye sight and good hearing also. This is because if the guard is required to protect the client in an aggressive situation then they would need to be fit enough to defend the client against any attacks. They would need to have good eye sight so they would be able to spot danger easily.
- Observation skills - They would need to have very good observation skill not only to spot apparent signs of danger whilst out with their client but also so they can gage how safe a place would be for their client to go when they go to check it before their client arrives.
- Communication - Due to the fact that they would be working extremely close to their clients in a lot of scenarios they need to have good communication skills and also be able to make decisions quickly and rationally.
- Training and qualifications - There are a number of qualifications that body guards can acquire to further their knowledge in the area and also broaden their skill set. They would firstly need to have the SIA license that is required for them to legally work as a body guard in the first place, just as with any security based job.
