There are plenty of pieces of equipment available for security guards and others in that sector this is including clothing and defensive weapons for when they are needed. With the need for security increasing through out the world the dangers that face people working in that sector are also becoming greater this is why making sure they have the
right kind of equipment to keep them safe is of paramount importance. Below are some of the available products to help security guards stay safe and for them to defend themselves or keep them protected in any possible hostile environments;
- Bullet proof vests - This particular piece of security protection is an especially important piece of equipment for those security guards in job situations such as money in transit. This is because they are at a much higher risk of attack and the people that would attempt to steal from them would more than likely be armed. The bullet proof vest is also a familiar piece of equipment with those that work as close protection for politicians or famous people that would also be at risk of attack. The oldest form of bullet proof vest was developed in 1881, it was made of silk, as you may have guessed these vests have under gone dramatic improvements in performance since these early type of vest. The technology that now goes into bullet proof vests is what makes the cost vary so dramatically the cost of the vests today vary from around £200 all the way up to the top of the range style of protection vest that can cost in the region of £600 - £700.

- Protection equipment - There are a small number of weapons that some security guards can carry around with them to defend themselves against any violent attacks they may incur. Some of these weapons include stun guns; these are a fairly extreme type of defensive weapon for use in the UK but it is known the way in which they work is to deliver a non-lethal electric shock that will disable the person making detaining them a lot easier. Batons; these are carried by many security guards and are used for defence in a situation where they may be getting attacked by an intruder or thief. Defence sprays; there are many variations in the defence spray selection now one of the most well known is probably the pepper spray but this is not that widely used in the UK, there are however products now available that can expel extremely foul odours and a spray dye that will dye the persons skin for up to 7 days, so the smell will deter the criminal and the spray dye will make it possible for the police to positively ID the person if they do get away to begin with.
